Disabled access and the law

Under the Disability Discrimination Act, all businesses that provide 'goods and services' - including cinemas and shops - must make 'reasonable adjustments' for disabled people, such as offering extra help or making changes to the way they provide their services.

What is 'reasonable' depends on a range of factors, including the size and type of your business. For example, if you run a large chain of cinemas or DVD and video outlets, you will be expected to do more to comply than a small, independent business.

The law also covers access to websites.
