Films with disabled actors

The following films all feature actors with disabilities who play characters with disabilities similar to their own.

 

AfterLife (2003) Director: Alison Peebles
Actress Paula Sage has Downs Syndrome and plays the character Roberta Brogan who also has Downs Syndrome.

 

City of Joy (1992) Director: Roland Joffé
Nabil Shaman is a disabled actor who had a supporting role as a character with a disability.

 

Cloud Cuckoo Land (2004) Director: Matt Dickinson
Co-writer and leading actor Steve Varden has Cerebral Palsy and plays the character Sandy Kenyon, whose disability is less severe than Steve's own. Steve also did his own stunts in the film.

 

Sixth Happiness (1997) Director: Waris Hussein
Writer and actor Firdaus Kanga stars in this autobiographical film about a man with brittle bones.
